Don’t Worry! Remember Daniel And Christmas!!
Pr 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, & do not lean on your own understanding.”
How will you work it out? There doesn’t seem to be an answer. You feel powerless to do what needs to be done to address the situation.
It is imperative that we learn, embrace, & believe Pr 3:5 in the midst of our life events. It is just as important that we pass this along to our children & grandchildren. This alone will strengthen us & them in as life plays out over the years.
“Trust.” Believe… Have faith… hope in… depend. God’s people are told to TRUST.
“In the Lord.” Believer’s trust is to be specific. It is to be “In the Lord.” Not family. Not money. Not power. Not humans… but “The Lord.” God… the Creator of the universe. The Almighty God. The one who can do more than we ask or imagine (Eph 3:20).
“And do not lean on your own understanding.” Why not lean on our perspective… view… understanding… or evaluation of events? Because we aren’t omniscient. We don’t know everything. We are incapable of rightly discerning events that are happening in our life. Then remember Ephesians 1:11 and Isaiah 46:9-10. Christians are told to live a certain way as found in 2 Cor 5:7.
An example: Daniel, Mary… Joseph, and Jesus. After hearing the “King of the Jews” was born in Bethlehem, Herod ordered all boys two and under to be killed. An angel told Joseph to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt for protection… BUT Mary & Joseph were poor! They didn’t have money to make the trip, provide while they were gone, or return!
Now, think back to Daniel 5:11. Daniel was made the head of the magi… the astronomers of the day. It is certain Daniel taught them about The Messiah. As a result… for many decades… the Magi looked for the Messiah’s star. Then the day came where they saw it, so they began a trek to visit and give gifts to Him.
But how were Joseph & Mary to pay for the trip to Egypt? How would they provide basic needs while there? How could they pay for their return to their home in Nazareth? God provided… through Daniel… who taught the Magi… who passed their knowledge down for years… till the time came when they saw the star… went to Bethlehem… with gifts of GOLD, frankincense, and myrrh! With those three expensive gifts… which originated with Daniel centuries earlier… Mary, Joseph, & Jesus were given provision to make their trip. NOW…
Can God provide for you? Will it happen in ways you don’t expect? Can God be trusted? After all, He is good… loving… gracious… and provides.
We are not all knowing. We aren’t all powerful. Our perspective isn’t complete nor is it accurate. When we rely more on our view/perspective/understanding than God’s… we are expressing a lack of faith that does not glorify God. So…
Whatever your situation is… or will one day be… strengthen your faith now so that when the day comes you will be able to “Trust in the LORD will all your heart and not lean on your own understanding.” THAT will glorify God and make Him smile…
