God willing… this coming Sunday at 2:30 PM in the school auditorium… Woodward Avenue Baptist Church will host the first baccalaureate service for graduating seniors in over to 20 years.  This is intended to be a time of encouragement for them as they transition to an exciting and new time in their life.

The featured speaker will be Dennis Homan.  Dennis grew up in Muscle Shoals and attended WABC during his youth.  He was in the first graduating class of Muscle Shoals High School.  After leaving Muscle Shoals he played on the 1965 national championship football team at Alabama for Bear Bryant.  From there he played professional football for the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and The Birmingham Americans (World Football League).  He has an NCAA national championship ring, an NFC championship ring, and a WFL championship ring.  But according to him, his greatest joy comes from his relationship with Jesus Christ.

dennis-homan  This blog entry is to ask the members of WABC to be in prayer for the service… that God will be glorified and the kids encouraged.  Also pray for the graduating seniors who attend WABC.  This year we have 28 who will receive their diploma which is one of the largest classes this church has ever had.  Also pray that God will use them for His glory in the years ahead.

Our graduating seniors are… Ashley Allman, Davis Bradford, Drew Clark, Jamie Dixon, Austin Dodson, Trey Ethridge, Steven Fredrick, Rebecca Hall, Mark Holt, Anna Margaret Johnson, Molli Jones, Bruce Jumper, Will King, Lindsey Little, Katie Martin, Noel McCorkle, Reed Morgan, Holli Oliver, Cliff Pate, Jonathan Perkins, Mallory Simpson, Carrie Sparks, Bryant Starkey, Krystle Trotti, Anna Turner, Justin Vallejo, and Blake Yarbrough.

To the right is a picture of Dennis Homan when he played for the World Football League Birmingham Americans back in the 1970s.  Hometown boy makes good huh?

Congratulations MSHS 2007 Graduating Seniors!
