blushingI’ve been reflecting and have come to the conclusion there is a specific problem for our culture, nation, politics, and churches. It is found in Jeremiah 6:13-15…

For from the least to the greatest of them, everyone is greedy for unjust gain; and from prophet to priest, everyone deals falsely. 14 They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace. 15 Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamedthey did not know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time that I punish them, they shall be overthrown,” says the Lord.

Too many of us have forgotten how to blush. In order to blush a person must have a healthy conscious informed by Scripture. This is largely gone in America today. Some examples of forgetting how to blush are: Living together without being married… Bearing children out of wedlock… Ending the life of children through abortion… Taking financial advantage of others for personal gain… Not being honest in all things, with all people, at all times… Not caring how your conduct or decisions affect others… among other things.

Consider what is written in Ps 15:1-2… “O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill? 2 He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart… 4 who swears to his own hurt and does not change…”

According to the Psalmist the one who will see God and abide with Him forever, among other things, keeps his word… even when it costs him… and refuses to change. This is a person of integrity. A person of honesty and faithfulness. This is a person who does what is right even when the result is loss to himself. This is not often seen or practiced today. Instead, everyone it seems is out to get ahead… climb the ladder… get ahead financially at whatever the cost to whoever it may be. Too many in our land have forgotten how to blush…

What about you… do you know how to blush?
