I love roller coasters… the faster, higher, and more turns, the better.  I enjoy the rush of jumping off a high dive.  I would love to parachute (But my wife won’t let me… yet).  I would also love to bungee jump (Over a net).  In my estimation, adrenaline is a gift from God!

I wonder… “Will the car stay on the tracks?”  “Will I surface after plunging into the water?”  “Will the chute open?  And if it doesn’t, will the reserve chute open?  And if it doesn’t, will it hurt?  And if I die in the ‘accident,’ what will that first second feel like when I see Jesus?” (Okay… that’s going a little to far just now).

Routine in boring.  Safe… but boring.  Routine is a rut.  A rut is a grave with both ends knocked out.  I hate routine!  I love uncertainty!!

Uncertainty adds joy to life.  Many thrive on the excitement uncertainty brings.  What is God doing?  How will He handle this situation?  What will today bring that I’m not expecting?

As Christians… we don’t live a life of uncertainty!  We live a life of secure promise!

I will never leave or forsake you.”

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.”

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

I will come again and receive you unto myself.”

“No test has taken you but such is common to man.  But God is faithful and will not allow you to be tested above that which you can handle.  But will with the test provide a way of escape that you may be able to bear it.”

“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

Has God thrown you out of an airplane… with only a reserve chute?  Are you riding a roller coaster that never seems to end?  Are you waiting to break the surface after being pushed off the high dive?

When you are in the place of uncertainty, it is there God is most likely to show up!  It is there God is most likely to do something great!  It is in that place your faith will grow the most!

In conclusion, when you are in a time of uncertainty… pray this, “(I) don’t know what to do, but (my) eyes are on You (God).”  Then embrace the certainty of uncertainty!
