If you’ve been reading my blog, you might remember a post discussing the RAND corporation’s prediction in 1954 of what a home computer might look like in 2004. Well guess what… that was what is called an “Urban Legend.” In other words… the picture I included in the post was a fake. It was a doctored picture of a Smithsonian mock-up of a nuclear submarine’s manuvering room! Therefore I deleted the earlier post! Here are the fake and real pictures (See the similariites and differences?)
Sometimes we want to believe something and as a result we are taken in, deceived, and made a fool. Sometimes we are so arrogant that we choose to believe a lie rather than the truth, to our embarrassment… IF we ever admit we were wrong.
And thus the spiritual lesson (Reference given below with comment). 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12. Those who reject the truth (Salvation through Jesus Christ alone), upon them God will send a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie and thus are condemned.
Matthew 24:4-5. Jesus warns not to be deceived into believing false doctrine about Christ.
Matthew 24:10-11. In the last days false prophets deceive many people with their lies.
2 Timothy 3:12-13. Evil people are deceived and deceive others regarding salvation.
Romans 16:17-18. It is by flattery and smooth talk that naive people are deceived regarding salvation.
2 Corinthians 11:3. Satan is the source of deception and lies about Jesus. NOW when I look closely at the pictures, I can tell one is a fake. NOW I feel silly for not doing my homework so as to not be taken in. But this is just a blog… two pictures… no big deal. What I really don’t want to happen is to be deceived about things of eternal importance! What I really don’t want is for those I pastor to be deceived in relation to things of eternal importance.
THUS… 2 Timothy 2:15, “Do you best (“Study” KJV) to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of Truth”
