If you read the title closely, you might think it was written incorrectly.  How can AN angel encamp AROUND?  Should it take at least three or four angels to encamp AROUND a person?  You’d think that, but that isn’t what is written in Psalm 34:7…

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.

Because The Spirit inspired this to be written as it is, we need to seek to understand His point.

Maybe “The Angel” refers to Jesus Himself.  Maybe “The Angel” refers to God’s promise that “(He) will never leave nor forsake us.”  Or maybe it is a poetic way of describing what we read from the life of Elisha in 2 Kings 6:17-18…

Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Personally, I’m not going to nit-pic which it is.  I’ll leave that for others to discuss.  Instead I’m going to take comfort in the truth that (Like all believers) I am protected by God’s presence.  Whether it is THE Angle… AN Angel… or God’s presence doesn’t matter.  What does matter is that all those who are in God’s hands are protected.  Not only are they protected… they are delivered!

Always remember… as a believer in Christ… you are protected.  You are not alone.  God will deliver you.  Amen.
