Ruth GrahamIn 1965 Ruth Graham said, “If God doesn’t judge America, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.” Her words ring more true today than they did when first spoken.

It is telling about the moral condition of a nation when President Obama congratulates an openly gay athlete for being drafted into the NFL, when states “legalize” same sex marriage. The day has arrived in this nation that God is no longer honored in America. The nation’s morals and ethics have been turned upside down. Fools are seen as wise and the wise are viewed as fools…

In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes. (Judges 17:6)

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools… (Romans 1:21-22)

Understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

When did it begin? It’s hard to pin down… but the “Greatest Generation” and their children seem to be worth taking a look at. It was the adults of that generation that came of age when prayer was taken out of school. It was their children who brought in the rebellion of the 60s. They were the ones in the forefront of legalizing abortion and “no fault” divorce. And it may very well be that the Scripture will be fulfilled as the progression continues…

Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. (2 Tim 3:12-13)

What I set forth I hope and pray is wrong… but I believe the day is coming, and may be here… when those who stand for truth “will be persecuted.” Those who stand on and for Biblical truth will be marginalized, fired, attacked, and vilified. Expect it. Endure it. Suffer for God’s glory in a way that reflects love, mercy, and grace because of what is written in 1 Peter 2:18-22…

Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust. For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.
