Look at a wind sock and you’ll know the direction the wind is blowing. Likewise, turn on the TV or check the internet to see that there are a few matters of international concern happening in the world right now. Keep in mind that each of these affects global markets and possibly, in one instance, the physical health in several nations. In other words… what is happening in the world effects all of us. Just look over the political, economic, and natural landscape of our globe to see uncertain times.
In light of all these things the world is NOT spinning out of control… it is following the plan God has had in place since eternity past. Christians are in the middle of all those situations TO SHOW THE WORLD THE DIFFERENCE JESUS MAKES IN A PERSON LIVING THROUGH THESE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE! The Christian’s prayer is NOT for God to take us out of the world, but to use us to glorify His name in the middle of an unstable world situation.
Here are a few things you’d better have nailed down in your spirit by now… for who knows what tomorrow holds. If you don’t have these truths firmly rooted in your soul, you may find yourself emotionally unnecessarily troubled in the near future.
God Is Always Good (Psalms 73:1)
God Is Love (1 John 4:8, 16)
God Is Always In Control (Romans 8:28; Daniel 4:35; Is 46:9-10)
God Is Always Just {Righteous} (Ezra 9:15)
All God’s Ways Are Always Perfect (Deuteronomy 32:4)
God is Always Trustworthy (2 Sam 7:28; Ps 62:8; Pr 3:5; Jn 14:1)
God Does Not Ever Change (Num 23:19; Ps 33:11; Mal 3:6; Is 59:1; Ja 1:17)
Americans… and American Christians… have had a good long run of relative ease, comfort, and blessing. That may be coming to an end (And it may not). But either way, life as we know it is changing and we had better be ready to live out our faith in an environment that is more uncertain that it has been in the past. Consider…
Matthew 6:25 Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 31 Do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34 Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow…
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 11 I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
