This is a continuation from yesterday’s post. Now, If a person has been a beleiver for ten years or more… and over 21 years of age in my little world… they should have at least a conversant working knowledge of the following. Which means being able to discuss it in non technical terms and grasping the basic idea of each doctrine. A short post is linked to at the end with basic suggestions for discussing these answers.
The verasity and authority of the Bible above all other religious writings…
The substutionary death of Christ…
The meaning of atonement…
The meaning of imputation…
The necessity of the virgin birth…
The truth that Jesus is the only way of salvation…
The dual nature of Christ…
The Trinity…
The ability to explain and defend the Biblical command to be baptized…
The importance of holiness in the life of a believer…
The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ…
The sure return of Jesus Christ…
The ability to describe how God saved them (Their testimony) in 3 to 5 minutes or up to 15 minutes.
Too much you say? If so… how much can you tell another person about your job, career, children, wife, your favorite college football team, your own life? Shouldn’t we know at least as much about the God who saved us as anything else?
Maybe… just maybe… doctrine and theology is important since it is about THE most important person in the universe. I’m just sayin. NOTE: You can CLICK HERE to access introductory thoughts to the above.
