Quote to remember: Blowing out someone else’s candle doesn’t make yours any brighter.

First is the allegation that someone “shopped” Cam Newton to Mississippi State to play football there.  Supposedly this person said it would take a cash “gift” of $180k or more.  According to Cam’s dad, the man (His name not worth mentioning) did it on his own without Cam or the family’s knowledge.  My perspective: Trust but verify.  Seems to me from what I hear it was reported properly and Auburn doesn’t have anything to worry about.

Now a new allegation has surfaced.  Supposedly Cam was expelled for instances of cheating at Florida.  THAT is piling on in my book.  Not needed… not helpful… not appropriate.  And yes… I’m angry that someone (Or people) have taken such a below the belt shot at this young man.  I see no need to kick someone when they’re already stumbling.  As they say where I come from, “That just ain’t right.”

David prayed to God in Psalm 25:7… “Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of Your goodness, O Lord!”  I don’t know about you, but I pray that often myself.  Then I remember, “If God is for us (Me, you), who can be against us?”

Okay… for argument’s sake… let’s say he did cheat and got caught and was kicked out of school.  He’s paid the price for his mistake… move on.  Why bring it up now?  Just because something is true (Assuming it is) does NOT mean it has to be told or discussed!  Give the guy another chance to prove he’s learned his lesson.  From all I can tell he is living a completely different life now.  He’s turned things around.  Celebrate with him!  Rejoice in a life redeemed!  Be glad that he’s not living a thug’s life!

People who find a need to hit below the belt would do well to remember Prov 26:27, “Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and a stone will come back on him who starts it rolling.”  I know that is true… because I’ve both seen and experienced it.

My prayer is that Cam will be surrounded by encouragers and people who will build him up.  My prayer is that God will do His will in the life of those who are taking shots at Cam.  My hope is that Auburn will win the SEC West… the SEC Championship… the National Championship… AND that Cam will win the Heisman.

Cam… hold your head up buddy.  Walk by faith in God.  Honor God and He will honor you.  Bless you Cam…
