British Prime Minister, David Cameron, gave this critique about the riots taking place in Great Britian…

“There are pockets of our society that are not just broken but, frankly, sick,” Mr Cameron said.   “When we see children as young as 12 and 13 looting and laughing and the disgusting sight of an injured young man with people pretending to help him while they are robbing him, it is clear there are things that are badly wrong in our society.”

When people reject God through Jesus Christ, chaos and anarchy follow.  It is the result of God saying in essence… “Since you don’t want Me in your schools… your homes… your businesses… your government… your lives, then I’ll let you have what you want, life without my hand of blessing, protection, and guidance” (Romans 1).  This is described as God giving people over to their sin.

Mr. Cameron is right about society being sick.  But it is only sick because the human heart is sick (Dead) because it is filled to the core with sin.  The only hope is for people and nations to turn to God through Jesus Christ.  It is impossible to ignore God and there not be consequences.  It is impossible to sow to the wind and not reap the whirlwind.  “Do not be deceived.  God is not mocked.  Whatever a man sows that he will also reap” (Click here for the rest of this quote).

Could it be God has been patient for decades… that He has given plenty of time for people and nations to repent… that the time has come for a minor judgment being sent to get the world’s attention so that a greater and more harsh judgment is averted?  I think it is not only possible, but probable.

A nation cannot take prayer out of school… legalize the murder of millions of babies through abortion… embrace deviant sexual lifestyles… ignore the needs of the poor and there not be conssequences!  “Do not be decieved, GOD IS NOT MOCKED.”  From my little place in Alabama I say… even so come Lord Jesus!  If it takes world wide chaos for people to turn to Christ, then so be it!  GOOD!  After all, God is glorified in judgment of sin.

Now… rather than pointing figers at others and nations… let repentance begin with us.

Suffering is good!  Suffering is not a bad thing… especially in the Christian context (Click… Click… Click)!  My prayer is not for the chaos and suffering to end… but for God to be glorified and people to turn to Him.  My prayer is that all people everywhere will seek Him first, then everything else will be taken care of (Matthew 6:33).
