Today is my daughter and son’s birthday.  Amy turns 24 and Trey turns 21.  They were born three years apart… to the day.  So each May 24th is a double special day for me and my wife Pam.  (From left to right is… Trey, Amy, Pam, and Britton)

Amy was born in Birmingham… Trey was born in New Orleans.  Amy was born at 7:59 AM… Trey was born at 12:50 PM.  The whole family was present for Amy’s birth… for Trey, only Amy and I were with Pam (We were in seminary).  For both Amy and Trey’s birth there was great celebration and joy (And Trepidation).

The background to this special day. Pam wanted six children… I wanted one… we decided on three.  Pam said this was her plan: Three children… first two to be different genders, three years apart… then the third (Gender didn’t matter) but she wanted the third child to be born before she turned 30.

How It Worked Out. Amy (girl) was born May 24, 1986.  Trey (boy) was born May 24, 1989.  Thus fulfilling two requirements: Different genders, THREE YEARS apart (Not a planned C-section)!  Then Britton (Third child, a boy) was born on November 12, 1992… the day BEFORE Pam turned 30!  Thus all three of Pam’s hopes came true!  How cool is that?

Each time I read these Scriptures I think of Amy, Trey, and Britton…

Psalm 127:3-5 (NIV) Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth.  5 Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!  He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

Happy birthday Amy and Trey!  All three of you (Amy, Trey, AND Britton) are a blessing from God to me and your mom!
