There is never a time when God is any less God.  All his charastics and attributes are the same, no matter what is happening… good or bad.

God is just as much God in blessing as adversity.  God is just as much God when a child is born as when a child dies tragically.  God is still a good God whether He chooses to heal from cancer or not heal.  God is still God whether the windows of heavenly blessing are being poured out or we’re in a dry desert.  God is still just as much God when there is money in the bank or we are homeless.  God is still a good God when our family is together or split.

In short, what happens TO us does not change who God IS.  The standard of knowing God’s goodness, love, mercy, and blessing are evidenced by the cross of Jesus… not what is happening to us (Even if it lasts for a life time).

Consider Habakkuk 3:17-19…

Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, 18  yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.  19 God, the Lord, is my strength;  He makes my feet like the deer’s; He makes me tread on my high places.

Amen…
