I think I’m going to try doing something.  When Thursday rolls around I am going to make a concerted effort to make that day decidedly theological.  I will give a thought… quote… or Scripture reflection for the purpose of drawing whoever may read this blog some encouraging words of theological nature.

So here’s my first offering… The Bible.

  The Christian Bible is the standard, rule, and guide for all those who name Jesus as their savior.  It is a book written over the span of thousands of years, by scores of writers, in three languages, yet it never once contradicts it’s self.

  Over the ages people and governments have tried to destroy and erase it from existence.  It is illegal to have a copy of it, or even a portion of it, in many countries around the world.  Yet for all the machinations of men, the Bible is still the most popular book ever written and it will never be destroyed.

  The Bible is full of history, poetry, and prophecy.  The Bible is a (1) book which contains 66 other books.  There are 39 books in the Old Covenant (A.K.A. “Old Testament”) and 27 in the New Covenant (A.K.A. “New Testament”).  All 66 books are in complete harmony and agreement.

  The Bible is God’s Word.  By His Spirit, God breathed it into the mind of men who wrote down what God gave them.  The Bible is living.  The Bible is active.  The Bible reveals the innermost thoughts of those who read it.  The Bible will be what God uses to judge the living and the dead on the last day.

  The Bible is the most precious book in the world.  People have died defending it’s message and taking it to those who have never read it.  People have dedicated their lives to translating the Bible into ever language people speak all over the globe.  Men have dedicated their lives to understanding one verse… one chapter… one book of the Bible.

  The Bible is where we encounter the God of the Universe.  The Bible is what we are to read to become more like God.
