Our worldview is the philosophy we all use to make decisions about everything. Therefore…
I am a Christian before I am a Republican, Democrat, or Independant.
I am a Christian before I am for McCain or Obama.
I am a Christian before I am an Alabama or Auburn fan.
I am a Christian before I am an American.
I am a Christian before I am a political conservative or moderate or liberal.
I am a Christian before I am a white anglo saxon.
I am a Christian before I am a Baptist, Methodist, or Presbyterian.
I am a Christian before I am a “hawk” or “dove.”
I am a Christian before I am anything else!
That means that my worldview as a Christian drives every decision I make. I do the best I can as led by God and Scripture to do what is right in His eyes. My loyalties are first and foremost to God’s kingdom. When there is a conflict between my call as a Christian and anything else, there is no problem in deciding to follow Christ.
Excellent advice. Just as late as the early part of last century, Churches performed an Election sermon. Many believe if not for the Pastors of our early churches Who had not be so active in addressing and rallying the colonist against the King’s abuses extend past his authority that we would not have had a Revolution. The group was often referred to the “Black Robed Regiment”. The King placed tremendous rewards on their respected heads of these pastors.
The quest for the dollar has eliminated those sermons. A pastor can not give an election day sermon as he as bowed to a higher authority called the Federal government. I say pastor but that is not true it is the Church who wants that 501c exemptions. I honestly don’t think if pushed in today’s climate of church and state, even without 501c that the IRAs could tax the church but I know the donors donation would be taxed on their end as they would not be going to a charity.
