For next time you have a few minutes to reflect on God’s activity in your life.
Read these passages S-L-O-W-L-Y. Think especially on the phrases in bold.
2 Cor 4:16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, {1} our inner nature is being renewed day by day. 17 For this slight momentary affliction {2) is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen {3} but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
Col 3:1 If then you have been raised with Christ, {4} seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 {5} Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 4 When {6} Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Now For A Few Reflections…
1. Each day our physical, emotional, & spiritual strength is renewed by God Himself… (How? See #3)
2. What we go through as a Christ follower is laying up treasures & rewards in heaven to be enjoyed eternally…
3. The way we are strengthened each new day is becoming heavenly minded! Looking forward to eternity…
4. Thus we are to live with the goal to increase eternal rewards. Forgiving, loving, being gracious, & merciful… etc.
5. This begins with setting your mind on these things BY MEDITATING ON THE SCRIPTURE!
6. So our joy, happiness, contentment, and peace is based solely on our relationship to Christ. NOTHING can come before Him. If you allow anything before Christ, you WILL be frustrated and discontent. So…. if you ARE unhappy, discontent, joyless, or worried… guess what… God is calling you to abandon your idol and return to him.
THUS…
Matt 11:28 (Jesus says) Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
