Jesus was sinless, yet on the cross God punished Him as if He committed our sin. Jesus endured God’s full wrath for…
Our lies… even though He never lied,
Our fornication… even though He was pure,
Our drunkenness… even though He was never intoxicated,
Our unrighteous anger… even though His anger was never unrighteous,
Our bitterness… even though He was never bitter,
Our theft… even though He never stole anything,
Our unforgiveness… even though he always forgave,
Our gossip… even though he never gossipped,
Our manipulation of others… even though he manipulated anyone,
Our favoritism… even though he had no favorites,
Our adultery… even though he never committed adultery,
Our infidelity… even though he was always faithful,
Our idolatry… even though he always worshipped Jehovah,
Our covetousness… even though he never coveted,
Our resentment… even though he resented no one,
Our faithlessness in God… even though he always trusted God,
OUR SIN… even though he never sinned.
Our salvation is free, but it came at a high price. The life of Jesus Christ… God’s only son.
Everything that we did…nothing that he did.
Nothing we did…everything that he did, for me!
i frankly do not understand how Jesus could do that. it’s so horrific to think of his virtue being soiled with our guilt. however, the love and compassion that moved him to do that is so surpassingly beautiful. i don’t understand, but i’m profoundly grateful.
Yes, how true.
So grateful to God for many things, especially for the fact we do not have to understand it all to receive His good and perfect gift of salvation, His unfailing love and neverending mercies. Thanks for the reminders, Pastor Ron.
Amen to all you said. It is by his stripes that we are healed and hopefully we will live our lives, beyond Easter, as if that matters to us.
