John MacArthur tells of being beside the bed of a dying 70+ year old Christian. The man told Dr. MacArthur his one regret was that he never gained victory over pornography! Imagine you are about to enter eternity and a spiritual regret like that hanging over your head. It could be anything from anger to a critical spirit to pornography to greed to bitterness… ad infinitum.
We will struggle against sin for as long as we live. Some temptations we overcome… some we don’t. Some of our life difficulties God leaves in place ON PURPOSE (2 Cor 12:7-10).
Below are a few passages to help you when you are tempted. Memorize these and repeat them over and over in your mind and Satan will flee.
“Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10)
“He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32).
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me . . . And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18, 20).
“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you and you shall glorify Me” (Psalm 50:15).
“My God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).
