Many have low self esteem… for a variety of reasons. It might be their physical appearance… education… economics… home life… or social status that cause people feel inferior. At times we ALL (Did you hear me?), we ALL struggle with how we feel about ourselves.
The world misses how to deal with problems. The world says, “You ARE a good person! You are fine just the way you are! You ARE okay!” That’s Satan’s lie…
What I’m going to do with the rest of our time together is address self esteem from Scripture. From God’s perspective of eternal truth. And we’ll do that beginning & ending with Ro 8.
There is good reason for low self esteem. God puts that conscious awareness IN us as an undefined recognition of our nature. The reason for low self esteem is that we are born sinners. Deep in our soul we all know we’re not good. God’s assessment… Romans 3:10-18…
None is righteous, no, not one; 11 no one u’stands; no one seeks for God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one. 13 Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive. The venom of asps is under their lips. 14 Their mouth is full of curses & bitterness. 15 Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 in their paths are ruin & misery, 17 & the way of peace they have not known. 18 There
is no fear of God before their eyes. 23 All have sinned & fall short of the glory of God…
See why I say there is good reason for low self esteem? Apart from Christ, there is EVERY reason for a person to “feel bad” about themselves! They feel bad because they are bad (Sinners). All people have that inner recognition FROM GOD (Ro 1:19-20, 2:14). ** But
the Christian is different **
Class… what does God say in Ro 8:1? What does “No condemnation” mean? It means ALL your sin has been forgiven! It means GOD is not angry with you… & never will be. It means that not even GOD holds your past against you! It means when GOD looks at you, HE smiles! That is Ro 8:33.39.
