“He’s so heavenly minded he’s no earthly good” is totally in opposition to Scripture Truth. Consider what is written in Col 3:1-4…
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
That sounds to me like the best way to be of benefit and use to God in this life IS to be heavenly minded! As one wrote, “I’m living this life just to live again…” (Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir).
Being heavenly minded means knowing one day you will stand before Almight Jehovah God and answer for every thought… careless word… and deed you ever did. It means you keep in mind that your life on this earth is centered around one thing… pleasing God. It means that the way you treat every person is personal to Jesus, so you treat them well… knowing you’ll answer to Him.
Being heavenly minded means that you look on everything as a means or opportunity to do only what would please the God whom you will one day stand before. It means that in all your activities you are seeking to glorify God. It means that you do what is right in your Master’s eyes regardless of what anyone else does around or to you.
Being heavenly minded means you don’t seek to please men because it is impossible to please men AND God. It means your realize that your will… life… and goals are not your own because you have been bought with the price of Jesus’ blood. Therefore you ONLY goal in life is to please the master to whom you are a slave.
As has been asked before… what you thnk about when you have nothing to think about IS where your heart is. The question is whether our minds think on God in heaven OR this life on earth. Well?
C. S. Lewis said, “If you read history you will find that the Christians who did the most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this one.”
Amen…
Jose, Jose, I have two questions. One, what makes you so smart? Two, didn’t you just sing a football scholarship?
