It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I think I have a few things now I’d like to write about.  The first is how we can know if we’ve forgiven someone.

Last night Pam and I were watching a movie and one of the characters said… “You know you’ve forgiven someone when you have a chance to get even and you don’t take it because you no longer want to get even.”

I like that because it falls directly in line with Scripture!  Here’s the way we find it in The Bible, “Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” (Romans 12:17-19)

We can forgive and no longer want to get even because we know God will take care of all those things.  We know that getting even is direct disobedience to God.  We know that loving them instead is evidence of forgiveness.

Just a thought for the day…
