An old preacher once said, “I can lie and make you feel good, or I can tell you the truth…” Jehoshaphat wanted to hear from God but he didn’t want to hear the Prophet of God speak. It is written in 1 Kings 22:7-8…
Jehoshaphat said, “Is there not here another prophet of the Lord of whom we may inquire?” And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord, Micaiah the son of Imlah, but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but evil.”
People do not like truth, they prefer lies that make them feel better. Jesus recognized this and said in John 8:45, “But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me.” If Jesus had lied, they would have believed him. But because he told the truth, they refused to believe. As it is written in 2 Thess 2:10-11, “Because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false…”
The World’s Lies: Jesus is not the only way of salvation. Same sex marriage is good. Children outside marriage isn’t shameful. Win at all costs. Destroy your enemies.
The Truth: Jesus is the only way of salvation. Marriage is one man, one woman for life. Marriage is the context to raise Godly children. Losing is winning, the last will be first, to be great… become a servant. Love your enemies, do good to those who harm you.
In this nation the frog has been in the kettle a long time. The heat has been being turned up to almost (If not already) boiling. America is NOT in a good place morally or ethically. Instead good is called bad and bad is deemed good. Blame whoever you will, but I’m of the opinion the problem began when God’s people relaxed their love for God’s truth wrongly thinking the result would be acceptance by the world. Instead the world is devouring, and has marginalized God’s people. God’s people are afraid of suffering for the Gospel!
The answer? 1 Peter 4:12-19…
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And “If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.
