A while back I posted about Mitt Romney and his Mormon beliefs. Click here to read what I wrote then. I also had a member of WABC send me an article about Mormon beliefs which you can read by clicking here.
What now follows are a few more thoughts given that the Iowa Caucus is taking place as the beginning of electing the President of the United States. I have no problem with a person believing what they desire… just be honest about it (The point of the article linked above).
I agree with the author of the article that in America a person can believe whatever they want and not be persecuted for their beliefs. However, what a person believes is also open to discussion, debate, examination, and scrutiny. My problem is when what people believe is hidden… covered up… and misrepresented. And that is what the Mormon church and Mitt Romney are attempting to do when it comes to the doctrine and teaching of the Mormon Church.
Mormons believe that the church in America was apostate and that the true faith was imparted to Joseph Smith by divine revelation. This made the Mormon Church the only true church. Aside: This means Mormons believe that ALL other Orthodox Christian denominations were, are, and continue to be apostate (false)… which would include our Baptist beliefs about God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit, and Salvation.
The most damning element for me is that the entire Mormon belief system is formulated and based upon supposed revelations given to Joseph Smith that supercede the 66 books contained in the Christian Bible! The Boook of Mormon along with Pearl of Great Price and Doctrine & Covenants contain demonic teachings that contradict Scripture handed down through The Holy Spirit.
Mormons redefine Christian phrases and give them new meanings. When Mormons use Christian words, they have a different meaning than what orthodox Christianity assigns to them. (Source: “The Facts On The Mormon Church”). Thus I ascribe to what is found in Ephsians 5:11… “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.”
What follows are Christian words and phrases with the meaning the Mormon Church assigns to them.
Christianity: A sectarian, false and damnable religion… except as defined by Mormon doctrine.
God: “Elohim;” one of innumerable self progressing bodily dieties; formerly a man; a finite creature. In early Mormon doctrine, Adam (Of the Garden of Eden) was considered to be an earthly diety.
Jesus Christ: A self progressing diety and the first spirit child of “Elohim” and his wife.
The Holy Spirit: A man with a spiritual body of matter.
The Trinity: Tritheistic; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are seperate entities.
The Gospel: Mormon doctrine.
Born Again: Baptism into the Mormon Church.
Atonement: The provision God supplied for an individual to earn their own salvation “by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel” (Articles of Faith, 3).
Heaven: Three “Kingdoms of Glory” comprising various spiritual elevations.
Hell: Purgatorial. Possibly eternal for a few Mormon apostates.
Virgin Birth: The physical sex act between “Elohim” (The earth “god”) and Mary.
Man: A preexistant spirit with the potential to earn Godhood by obedience to Mormon teaching.
Scripture: The Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price. Notice in the picture above that Mormons subtitle The Book of Mormon as “Another Testiment of Jesus Christ.” This is heresy and apostasy of the highest form.
The Bible: An unreliable document properly interpreted only by Mormons and in light of Mormon Theology.
Mormons are free to believe what they will. But they should at least be honest about what they believe. As for my call to help, disciple, and encourage the people of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church… I am to be faithful the The Truth… and that is the purpose of this post.
In Galatians 1:8 Paul wrote, “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.”
