WYKThe quote should be, “It’s not what you know, but who knows YOU that matters.”

There is a difference between you knowing someone and them knowing YOU. I “know” Barak Obama… but he doesn’t know me. Only those who HE knows… and allows to enter his presence are able to do so. Now consider Jesus’ words in Matthew 7:22-23…

On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and cast out demons in Your name, and do many mighty works in Your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Many will stand before Christ who “knew” Him… they will have done many wonderful things in His name. But they will hear the words of condemnation from Jesus, “I never knew you!” They never make THE most important statement (See below).

The hinge point of saving knowledge is found from Jesus in John 10:14-15… ” I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.” The only way to know Jesus is by Him FIRST knowing us. The latter depends on the former and flows from it (Not visa versa). Consider these texts for contemplation…

2 Cor 13:5 Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!

Phil 3:8 Count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him… 10 That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death…

John 17:20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.

Ro 8:9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

Col 1:26 The mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. 27 To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

The most important truth statement when standing before God is NOT what we did for Him OR in His name OR that we “knew” Him. The ONLY thing that matters is that Christ is IN us and we are IN Him. Nothing else matters! NOTHING. That is why Paul wrote he wanted to be found “IN CHRIST.”

Are you in Christ and is Christ in you? That should be the one desire of your life…
