This is a follow up to an earlier blog post reagarding the riots in Great Britian.  Today I read an interesting article that contained the following…

Cameron pledged to deliver a raft of new policies by October aimed at reversing the “slow-motion moral collapse” which he blames for fostering the disorder.

“This has been a wake-up call for our country. Social problems that have been festering for decades have exploded in our face,” Cameron told an audience at a youth center in Witney, his Parliamentary district in southern England. “Just as people last week wanted criminals robustly confronted on our street, so they want to see these social problems taken on and defeated.”

Of course P.M. Cameron has yet to set forth is plan to stem the tide of riotious behavior… but he is right about two things: 1) The disorder in London IS the result of a “slow-motion moral collapse,” 2) Ignoring “social problems that have been festering for decades” will eventually erode a society’s moral order.   And may I add that the United States may not be far behind.

Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

That is not only true of individuals, it is also true of nations, cultures, and societies.  The big question is… what is the answer?  My question is… Is it already too late?  The answer to that question is ultimately in God’s providence, but there is warrant for considering it as found in Romans 1:19 and following…

The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.  21 For although they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.  24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.  26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions.  28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Though they know God’s decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

According to Paul, there comes a time when God no longer offers forgiveness and grace.  There comes a time when… because people (Nations?) continually reject Him by their laws and conduct… that He ends the opportunity for grace.  It is at that point that God’s wrath kicks in.  Understand thought that God’s wrath should not be necessarily understood as tragic weather events (Even though it is possible) but rather Him taking away His hand of restraint and letting man follow his natural inclinations to sin.

Is that happening in Great Britian?  Will it happen in America?  This much I know as you look back through history, nations that ignore God eventually disappear.  Ever met a Philistiine?  A Perrizite or Jebusite?  If not, my point is made.

The answer is not “WHAT should we do?” but rather “Who should we proclaim?”  That person is Jesus.  The answer is repentance, revival, and awakening.
