Recently my devotion time is taking a step up. This morning I read from The Valley Of Vision and the chapter titled Need of Jesus. Here is a portion of what I read…
Lord Jesus, I am blind, be thou my light… Ignorant, be thou my wisdom… self willed, be thou my mind. Open my ear to grasp quickly thy Spirit’s voice, and delightfully run after His beaconing hand. Melt my conscious that no hardness remains, make it alive to evil’s slightest touch. When Satan approaches may I flee to thy wounds, and there cease to tremble at all alarms. Be my good shepherd to lead me into the green pastures of Thy Word, and cause me to lie down beside the rivers of it’s comforts. Fill me with peace, that no disquieting earthly gale may ruffle the calm surface of my soul.
The benefit of a daily devotion… especially one that begins our day… is that our heart, mind, soul, and spirit are properly directed as they should be… upon our Lord. A daily devotion should not be seen as something commanded, but rather a time that is precious and blessed that we look forward to.
I encourage you to reflect upon the words above from The Valley Of Vision regarding a great way for our mind & prayer to begin a day. Reflect upon these words and the requests they voice… and make them your own!
