HiddenTruth-700x890

The whole truth is much like an iceberg, most of it is hidden and can’t be seen….

Truth 1: The truest test of who we are is what we do when we think no one is watching.

Follow Up: What we say and do around people we feel safe with is a good indicator of who we really are.

Whoever first said those was right… and it bothers me. It bothers me first for myself, and then for others I know. I’m convicted when I think then say things about others around a “safe circle of friends” I’d never say around others when I’m supposed to be “on.” It bothers me when I secretly think then say things to myself about others when I’m by myself because it reveals the depth of sin in me.

Take a minute to examine yourself in light of the above “Truth” and “Follow Up” statements. Are there things you (I!) say to our best friend(s) we’d never say to others? Is there a problem with doing such? Are there things you (We) do when we’re alone we try to hide from others? And is there a problem if such is the case?

“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he” (Pr 23:7, KJV). God help us… “Who shall deliver me from this body of death?” (Ro 7:24-b). Then we read this from James 3…

3:6 The tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. 8 No human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

Why post this? Because we all need God’s truth to shine into our heart ever so often… to remind us of the need to live in repentance and put off the flesh… to seek God daily asking Him to deliver us. While we are all guilty, we are not condemned because of the blood of Jesus. And the result is as we grow more in Christ His love compels us toward holiness and righteousness. Over time as God works in us to will and accomplish His will (Conformity to Christ), the more He dominates our public AND private life to mirror Him!
