The United States of America is sliding down a slippery slope that will not end unless God intervenes and delivers her (Continuation of yesterday’s post). There is no other hope. As Ruth Graham said, “If God doesn’t punish America He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.” Consider the moral climate in The United States…
Divorce has been rampant for decades. Couples living together outside marriage is common place. Same sex marriage is being legalized throughout the nation. And over 50 million babies have been murdered through abortion since 1972.
No nation can continue to transgress God’s Law with impunity. God is patient, giving people plenty of time to repent for their sin. But eventually God will say… “That’s enough” and then He sends judgment just like He did on Sodom, Pompeii, and Kingston Jamaica. It may be the only reason God has not yet judged America is the presence of His people (Gen 18:23-33, 1 Cor 7:14). Be sure, God will not be mocked.
One of my concerns is that it seems God’s people would rather fight the government by griping and complaining than pray and seek God’s face. After all, the proper attitude of God’s people should manifest it’s self through prayer…
When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, 14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chron 7:13-14)
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling… (1 Tim 2:1-4, 8)
I don’t expect the government to be able to do anything of consequence. However, Christians should be doing something… praying with all their might asking God to bring revival and awakening to save souls, deliver the nation, to glorify His name. Instead of worrying about our retirement, Obama-care, the cost of gasoline, and who wins a stupid football game… we should be on our faces before God pleading for His mercy to deliver us from the judgment we deserve.
Ask yourself… when was the last time you prayed FOR Obama, Congress, the Senate rather than railing against them like a pride-filled radio talk show host? Whatever the answer is, consider 2 Chron 7:13-14 along with 1 Tim 2:1-4, 8.
Amen!
