Ever contemplated it is a sin NOT to pray for someone? Consider what is written in 1 Samuel 12:23…
Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you…
It is not just a sin NOT to pray, but a sin against THE LORD not to pray! But how often do we say… “I’ll be thinking about you” as a hedge about forgetting to pray or not praying for someone? (And all God’s people said… OUCH!)
Sadly, nothing is important to us until it is personal. Let it be YOUR parent or child who needs prayer. Let it be YOUR job that needs saving. Let it be YOU who is struggling with financial, emotional, or spiritual issues and THEN see how important it is for others to be praying for YOU! Now… who has asked for prayer we know of?
At the moment I haven’t figured out how NOT praying for someone is a sin against God. Right now I’m thinking about people I need to be praying for: Beth (x 2), D1-2-3-4, Several ministers who are struggling, Churches I know of that are struggling, my spouse… kids… and family’s holiness… and about 10k other things. So if you don’t mind, I might come back to the theological implications of sin and not praying… but right now I need to go pray.
