Okay… I’m a hard line skeptic.  It takes a lot to convince me of something that is contrary to what I believe… especially when it comes to Scripture.  So when the Youth Pastor where I’m serving suggested I watch a DVD titled, “The Star Of Bethlehem” I blew it off as fluff.  But he was persistent… so I watched it so I could discount and discredit it as typical junk that is peddled to make money off of gullible Christians.

The presentation is made by Frederick A. Larson who is a lawyer by trade (Hmm… strike 1).  He admits he is not a trained astronomer (Hmmm… strike 2) yet states he is a Christian (Okay… only one strike instead of two… for the moment).  So I decided to continue my examination…

As I watched his one hour presentation I must admit he did not come off as I thought a lawyer would… pressing his argument with overwhelming evidence  including an attitude of, “If you don’t see what I’m presenting you’re choosing to remain ignorant of the facts.”  No… he was humble, non-confrontational, and presented his thoughts more as, “Here’s what I found… consider this as a possibility.  I personally believe it to be true, but you make up your own mind.” I took his presentation to be genuine, thoughtful, and well researched.  Not only that, his thoughts are extremely compelling.

I’m meditating and thinking over the possibility he’s right… but none the less it is something worth considering at this time of year.
