Hope keeps us going when all seems to be lost.  Hope gives parents the ability to keep praying for a wayward child.  Hope provides strength to not give up to the spouse who’s loved one left them.  Hope sustains us when it seems the world is falling apart around us.

Today’s entry is for every person who is struggling… every person who is in danger of slipping into dispair… every individual who’s knot in the end of their rope is coming undone.  Today’s entry is a call for all of us to remember to look to God who is the source of hope… the one “Who is able to do exceeding and abundantly above all we ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20).

If you are struggling, I ask you to read the following verses slowly.  Read them several times, and after that, read them a few times more.  Meditate upon these passages and let them sink deep into your soul.  Memorize a few of them and then make them part of your daily meditations so that God’s truth sustains you in spite of what is happening around or to you.

Luke 1:37 For nothing is impossible with God.

Genesis 18:13 Then the LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the LORD?”

Jeremiah 32:17 “Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.”

Jeremiah 32:27 “I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?

Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Numbers 11:23 The LORD answered Moses, “Is the LORD’s arm too short? You will now see whether or not what I say will come true for you.”

When Paul had prayed three times for the thorn to me removed from his side, Jesus gave him a promise and is found in 2 Corinthians 12:7-9.  Let this be of comfort to you as it was to Paul…

To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace IS sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Jesus did not tell Paul his grace WAS sufficient, because yesterday was gone.  Jesus did not tell Paul His grace WOULD BE sufficient, because tomorrow had not yet arrived.  Jesus said his grace IS sifficient… meaning that what Paul needed at the moment, when there was need, as it was needed what was needed would be provided.

The same is true for us… me… YOU!  What you need, when you need it as a believer in Christ will be provided!  So keep in mind NOTHING IS TOO HARD FOR GOD!  NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE for God.  With God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!  God is able to DO exceedingly and abundantly above ALL you ask OR imagine!

Merry Christmas!
