You may remember The Sixth Sense the first time you watched it. Your understanding of the plot was turned upside down at the end wasn’t it? If you watched the movie again, everything you saw was informed by what you now knew about the end of the movie. In fact, you looked at everything in a way you couldn’t the first time you saw the movie. Right?
Now think for a moment in terms of your life… Christ… The Gospel… and Scripture!
You know the end of the story… the end of your life story… the purposes of God… what will ultimately BE. In Christ you will be victorious! Everything will be made right. There is a heavenly reward. You will be given a crown of righteousness. Every tear will be wiped away. There will be no sorrow or pain, only joy in God’s presence forever!
Now… view your life each day, and all the events of your life as informed by what you KNOW the ultimate truth to BE! Go to Jesus. Go to God. Go to the Scripture. Take God at His Word. Believe HIM! Drive His truth DEEP into your heart. Let what you KNOW about the end inform your heart NOW! Consider the following truths…
(Jesus said) Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Mt 11:28-29)
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. (Jn 16:33)
I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (Jn 10:10)
Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven… (Mt 10:31-32)
Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. (Lk 12:32)
I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. (John 11:25-26)
Romans 8:16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God. 31 If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ok. You know the end… now live like it today!
Ron,
Thanks for reminding us of the unique perspective we have as believers. So good to know the “end of the story”!
