If a Christian chooses not to share the Gospel with a lost person they are saying in essence… “I don’t care if you spend eternity in hell.” I know that sounds harsh, but it is true. How hateful must a person be NOT to share the only way of salvataion with a person who is on their way to eternal condemnation? There is great joy in seeing God turn on the light in a person’s soul so as to believe in Christ and be saved! Not only that, when a person is saved there is rejoicing IN HEAVEN! What Christian wouldn’t want to be a part of that?! Today I suggest more simple ways to share the Gospel with the lost. Who knows… God may use you in the coming year to save someone from eternal damnation.
Here’s a conversational approach to engage a person with the Gospel. Ask…
Who was Jesus? If the person doesn’t know… tell them (God’s only son… born of a virgin… lived a sinless and perfect life).
What did He do? If the person doesn’t know… tell them (He died on a cross, punished by God for the sin of all who would believe… and was resurrected on the third day.).
Why does that matter? If the person doesn’t know… tell them (Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. None are savedexcept through Him.).
Another way to share the Gospel is what has been called The Roman Road. You begin by asking… “Can I tell you about how I believe a person can be saved?” If they say yes… continue on. If they say no, tell them it won’t take but just a moment or two… but don’t be pushy. Build the relationship with the person, then as the Spirit leads you in the future, ask them again…
In Romans 3:23 it is written that “All have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.” That means we all are sinners in God’s sight needing salvation. In Romans 6:23 it is written that “The cost of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life.” This means our sin against God has killed us spiritually… but God offers salvation. In Romans 5:8 it is written, “But God showed His love for us in that while we were sinners Christ died for us.” That means even though we deserved condemnation, God sent His Son to pay for our sin. In Romans 10:9-10 it is written, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and God raised Him from the dead you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” That means you believe Jesus death and resurrection saves you. When that is true for you what is written in Romans 8:1 is also true… “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” And that means you are saved.
Of course these are outline and shorten forms. But they will get you started. One more important thought tomorrow and on to another topic…
