The only thing I’m more tried of than political ads are Christians whining and wringing their hands about who will be the Republican and Democrat Nominee, and then who will be president. I must emphasize it strongly… The only thing I’m more tried of than political ads are Christians whining and wringing their hands about who will be the Republican and Democrat Nominee, and then who will be president.
Of all people who should exude calm and peace about this election (And everything else for that matter) are Christians! It seems as if one of several things has happened: 1) They don’t trust God, 2) They haven’t read the Bible, 3) If they have read it, they don’t believe it, or 4) They actually believe all the so called ministers on TV screaming like Chicken Little that THIS MEANS THE RAPTURE IS SOON!
Ok, the rapture could happen at any moment… but NOT because of this election. The return of Christ could happen now or not for 1,000 years and STILL be consistent with Scripture. But I digress and need to move on. The rest is for all those worried about who will be elected President. What follows is Scripture that MUST be embraced if the Christian worriers (Oxymoron) are to find peace. All I ask is that you take God at His Word.
Dan 2:20 Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. 21 He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings…
To put it in our context, whoever wins is because GOD willed that person to attain the office of president.
Is 46:9 I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, 10 declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all My purpose…
This is an eternal unchangeable truth. GOD is the one who accomplishes His will in every and all situations. Including this election.
1 Sam 2:6 The Lord kills and brings to life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up. 7 The Lord makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and He exalts. 8 He raises up the poor from the dust; He lifts the needy from the ash heap to make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honor.
Hannah recognized God’s sovereignty in her prayer. In our context, all who find themselves where they are owe it to God’s sovereign loving will. This includes the Republican nominee… the Democrat nominee… and whoever becomes president.
Eph 1:11 In Him we have obtained an inheritance, (by) Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will…
Confession: I toned this one down a little, but didn’t misquote it. The point is though that GOD works ALL things according to HIS will. Including this election.
Ezra 6:22 And they kept the Feast of Unleavened Bread seven days with joy, for the Lord… had turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, so that He aided them in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.
Interestingly, God MADE the King of Assyria WANT to do what he wouldn’t have wanted to do otherwise (Read that again with the Scripture). The point is REGARDLESS of who is president (Believer or not) God has/can/will make them WANT to do what God’s will is! And this happens without violating their freedom!! That’s what God is capable of!!
Does that mean I don’t vote? No, I did vote. Does that mean I don’t pray for leaders? No, I do and will.
What all this DOES mean is that I’m not going to be anxious or worry or have a meltdown regarding who gets elected. God doesn’t ride the backs of elephants (Republicans) or donkeys (Democrats)… God REIGNS AS SOVEREIGN OVER ALL THINGS! Therefore, I will not fear.
So true – powerful and very helpful during this time. THANK YOU, for sharing !
AMEN!!!!! Timely and well said, Br Ron.
