Your phone rings in the middle of the night. You pick it up and hear your child who is away at college tearfully say: “Mom… we’ve just been hit by a tornado and I can’t find my car! Everything is destroyed. It’s horrible… I don’t know where my friends are… I’m okay, but I’m scared… can you come get me?”
Imagine getting that kind of phone call in the wee hours of the morning from your child. That is the phone call a lot of parents got this week from their children who attend Union University in Tennessee. Union University is a small Baptist School that was devistated this week.
Click here for pictures of the devistation. As you see them you’ll be amazed to realize not one person on campus died! Let’s keep the University in our prayers (Dr. David Dockery is the president) along with the students and faculty.
Okay… let’s go back over The Truths About God to this point from Sunday morning… because all Hades did break loose for them. (Click here for the manuscripts to the messages referenced below.)
Truth #1: God is good. Application: Nothing bad has ever happened to me… evil yes, bad no.
Truth #2: God is love. Application: It is impossible for me or others to mess up my life.
Truth #3 (This coming Sunday): God is in control. Application: God only allows into our life what is ultimately good for us.
What we believe about God is the most important thing about us. We need to settle that now because one day all hades will break loose in our lives… THEN what we believe about God will be the knot at the end of our rope.
