I went to a birthday party Saturday for Jesse Homan.  Mr. Homan was born in 1907!  His is only the second party of that kind I’ve attened.  To live to be 100 is quite awesome.

Until just recently Mr. Homan walked one mile every day on his treadmill… read a chapter in the Bible… and wrote in his journal.  All of his children are believers (Aside: For Alabama fans his son is Dennis Homan who played for Bear Bryant, the Dallas Cowboys, and Birmingham Americans).  And he is known in Muscle Shoals as a man of great faith and integrity.

While thinking about Mr. Homan, it came to my mind that THE proof of a genuine faith is perseverance.  Continuing in the faith.  I don’t think there is a better testimony than in the twilight of life that a person is still faithful to God.  I’m sure that through the 10 decades Mr. Homan has lived there have been difficult times, but still… at the age of 100… he loves Jesus.  How awesome is that?

The way to be faithful to the end is to be faithful now!  May we be found faithful by our Lord when He returns!

Matthew 24:45 Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time?  46  Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes.  47 Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions.

Matthew 25:21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.  You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

Luke 16:10 “One who isfaithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.  11 If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?  12 And if you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?
