Recently I read of an affirmation of salvation I had never considered before… a longing for heaven. Consider the Scripture…

Heb 9:28 So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

2 Tim 4:8 There is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.

Ro 8:19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved.

2 Cor 5:2 In this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling…

There is a decided attitude in those who are saved that all this world is and has as temporary… fragile. They powerfully long and look forward to the eternal dwelling place so as to be with Christ, face to face. Death isn’t feared but the door to be traversed leading to glory. The best this world has to offer is but barnyard dung compared to what is to come. Believers will therefore look forward to… long for… and want to leave this world to be with Jesus. When heaven is constantly on their mind, it is an affirmation they have been saved by the blood of Jesus.

Do you look forward to seeing Jesus? Is there a deep desire to leave this world and be with Jesus? Do you long for this life to be over so you can unite with Christ? Then know you have the eternal in you causing that desire.
