poofFirst the Scripture from Genesis 5:23-24,

“All the days of Enoch were 365 years. Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.”

In Genesis 5:1-20, six men are mentioned as living… fathering children… then it is said of them, “And he died.” But there is something radically different when Enoch is described. Read verse 24 again. It is written… “Enoch walked with God.” It is not said he died because he didn’t. The Scripture records… “He was not, for God took him.”

What was different about Enoch and everyone else? All the others “Lived… fathered children… and they died.” Enoch “Walked with God.” And thus a lesson for us. There is a difference between walking with God and just living life. Just living life (Going to school… getting married… having children and a career) is in the end empty. However, real life is walking with God every moment of the day AT work, AT school, IN marriage, THROUGH your career. Christ is life.

Jesus said in Matt 6:25, “Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” No matter how full everything else in life is, unless a person “walks with God” they will die the eternal death. Thus we should… no… MUST, make it our goal to walk with God every day of our life. For in Christ we find life. As Jesus said in John 11:25-26…

“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die…”
