DisMainThere is no way we can know exactly what heaven will be like… but I like to imagine (John Lennon was wrong by the way!). I like to think of heaven because God encourages me when I do. Paul encouraged us to think often about heaven. In fact, the ONLY way to be of any earthly good is to be massively heavenly minded! Here are a few thoughts I have about heaven (Not all are supported by Scripture). I hope you are encouraged. (Note: From my soon to be released book, “Dancing In The Dungeon: Suffering With Hopeful Joy For God’s Glory“).

Look for snippet previews of heaven… they are all around you. For instance… did you see all the Sea Hawk fans celebrating after the Super Bowl? That is nothing compared to the celebrations taking place in heaven YOU will one day experience! Ever tear up at a reunion of a veteran surprising a child or wife? That is nothing compared to heaven. Did you see the video of a deaf girl hearing for the first time? Incomparable to seeing Jesus for the first time! Have you stood at the entrance to Disney World… looking down main street toward Cinderella’s Castle? That is a slum compared to the first view of New Jerusalem with God’s Throne before you with Him sitting on it smiling at YOU! Now… If you are a believer in Christ…

God will be glad to see you come home (Ps 116:15)

You will reign with Christ for all eternity (2 Tim 2:12-a)

You will hear God say, “Well done! WELL DONE!” (Mt 25:21)

You will be given a unique name no one else has! (Rev 2:17)

You will have a perfect resurrected body (1 Cor 15:50-55)

You will have a dwelling place to call home… in heaven… forever (Jn 14:2-3)

All your neighbors will be perfectly loving, gracious, and joyful (1 Cor 6:9-11)

You will worship God with all the redeemed (Rev 5:9-10)

Hopefully your works survive the test to be rewarded (1 Cor 3:13-15)

Now a few more things I like to think heaven may be like…

You’ll get to spend endless time talking with Jesus one on one!

You’ll get to worship God IN PERSON!

You’ll get to see the resurrection in real time!

The Holy Spirit Himself with expand your understanding of Scripture more and more eternally!

You’ll get to see how creation actually happened on a big screen!

You’ll get to sit and talk with Moses, David, Paul, and countless other believers about their life in Christ.

You’ll meet Adam, Eve, Enoch, Elijah, Peter, Martin Luther, Asahel Nettleton, Charles Spurgeon, David Brainerd, and…..

So yes… I look forward when at least two angels come to usher me into the presence of God (Lk 16:22-a)! I don’t fear death, just the process… but that will be soon forgotten once I see Jesus. MARANATHA!!
