blindspot“There are none so blind as those who will not see” is one of my favorite quotes from The Andy Griffith Show.  Paul worded it about himself this way in 1 Cor 4:3-4…

It is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. 4 I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me.

You and I think we’re innocent… we’ve done nothing wrong… and are right about any given situation.  Thus the reason to consider seriously Jeremiah 17:9…

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; and no man can know it…

Think about it… in what you think you’re right about you may very well be blind. You THINK you’re right. You are CONVINCED you are right. You KNOW you are right. There is no doubt or possibility… deep down in your heart… that you could BE wrong. But then you run up against these…

Mt 6:23 If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

Mt 23:24 You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!

Mt 23:26 You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.

“Honesty Is Deceptive” when a person thinks they are walking in truth when they are actually blind. The ONLY way anyone can ever move from blindness to sight is by an act of God who removes scales from their eyes. GOD must be the one who grants sight. GOD has to perform a miracle before anyone can see.

Just like the man blind from birth… Jesus is the only hope for sight to be granted. In the same way Saul encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus, a blind person MUST encounter Jesus. Receiving sight might be ugly as when Jesus rubbed mud made with spit (!) on a man’s eyes to heal him.

Listen!  Everyone… EVERYONE… EVERYONE has blind spots. By definition, blind spots cannot be identified by the person themselves. The person most blind is the one who says (Or doesn’t think) they have one or more blind spots!

The questions is… are you willing to do (Or go through) whatever it takes to: 1) Identify your blind-spot(s), 2) Do what God would have you to in order to deal with the blind spot(s)?
