Recently I had the joy of filling in for a friend on Wednesday night. At the same time I was trying to encourage some family members in their walk with God. By providence, they live close to the church where I filled in. They had told family they were going to church that Wednesday night… where I was (Without knowing I’d be there)… but they decided not to attend. When I told them later I was there that night they were disappointed… now a lesson.
I’m not God… but I do represent Him when I speak at a church. That the individuals decided not to attend… and found out we didn’t get to hook up because they weren’t present… and they were disappointed. Here’s the point: You never know when you miss church what you might miss that would be a blessing. It could be a joyful family encounter OR a supernatural encounter with God Himself. For example…

In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for. 8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
