God is pleased when we encourage his children. Yesterday I got a phone call from a friend of 20 years that brightened my day. It was just a sentence or two, but I needed it. His word of encouragement went a long way to helping me have hope and strength. Encouraging others is commanded. As it is written…
Encourage one another and build one another up… (1 Thess 5:11)
And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. (1 Thess 5:14)
Encouraging one another… all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (Heb 10:25)
I’m convinced that when a name pops into our mind, that is the prompting of The Spirit to contact that person to encourage them and pray for them. You don’t know what they’re going through, but I promise you this… a word of encouragement for them will go a long way. IT MAKES GOD SMILE WHEN WE ENCOURAGE HIS CHILDREN. After all, it is better to give than receive… Cast your bread upon the waters and after many days it will return to you.
