Consider what is written in Psalm 73:21-26…

When my soul was embittered, when I was pricked in heart, 22 I was brutish and ignorant; I was like a beast toward you. 23 Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. 24 You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. 25  Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. 26  My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

I’m so thankful for the first word of v 23… “Nevertheless.”  While meditating upon that, I thought of another phrase in 1 Cor 10:13… “GOD is faithful…”  The assurance of salvation does not rest in human will or conduct, but rather with God’s faithfulness.  Every person that is born of God becomes one of His children.  Their spiritual DNA is Christ’s DNA which can no more be changed than physical DNA can be changed.

Nevertheless… “Even though,” “In spite of,” “Even after…” mistakes, failures, and blunders are committed… the person in Christ is STILL in Christ.  HE holds the beleiver’s hand through every difficult day… every hard time… every storm of adversity.  As Jesus said, “No one can pluck them out of My Father’s hand!”

I am one of those who believes in Eternal Security… Once Saved, Always Saved… the impossibility of becoming lost after being saved.  Why?  Because if salvation can be lost… among other things… the command of Jesus and Paul “not to worry” mean nothing!  If my salvation is kept secure because of ANYTHING I do (Or don’t do), it then becomes a work and invalidates Eph 2:8-10.

Go back and refelct upon what the Psalmist wrote.  Read it slowly… let the words sink deep into your soul.  Believe God!
