Reflections on Philippians 1:6
“I am SURE.” While many things are uncertain, there are a few things you CAN be certain of…
“That HE.” The certainty of the following is based on GOD’S trustworthiness and power…
“Who began.” GOD started it. GOD is the one working in you. GOD. Not your spouse or friends… GOD.
“IN you.” The work God is doing is related to CHARACTER and Christ likeness, not clothes… house… or career.
“WILL.” There is no chance of God failing to make you more like Jesus (Romans 8:29, “To be conformed to…”).
“Bring it to COMPLETION.” You will become EXACTLY like Jesus!
“At the day…” Including today you are becoming more and more and more like Jesus until THE day you are before Christ!
Reflections on Philippians 2:13
“It is GOD.” See and understand that ALL events & circumstances are GOD working…
“Works.” This is an ongoing process that includes everything you experience… EVERYTHING! Nothing is chance or coincidence!
“IN YOU.” Again… God’s work isn’t about things but rather character (Grace, mercy, love, forgiveness, kindness, compassion).
“WILL and WORK.” You don’t have a choice in the matter regarding holiness. GOD is active in your life. See it that way!
“HIS good pleasure.” A) To bless you BY… B) Conforming you to Christ SO THAT… C) Rewards are laid up in heaven TO… D) Enjoy forever… E) THUS a reason to always rejoice (Ja 1:2-4; Phil 4:4)
Suggestions:
Read the Scripture before each comment/reflection.
Go over these thoughts often so they sink deep into your heart and soul.
Choose to understand and process life events based on God’s truth.
Don’t try to understand God or Scripture based on life events.
Thank God for every event BECAUSE OF what He is doing in your life!
Thanks for the excellent commentary regarding Phil. 1:6 & Phil. 2:13. It is great to know God works in a process. This helps us understand we are a work in progress.
